Dancing into another Year

Dear Movement Medicine Community! I hope you all travelled well into another another year, fresh and inspired. I was blessed to transition between the years with Movement Medicine, participating in a wonderful 2-day workshop with Petra Bongartz in Cape Town. Waiting for you already is an abundance of wonderful workshops of many different kinds in many different places with many different wonderful teachers. For more inspiration and information on all the offerings coming up, read on.

This module of the Professional Training covers mostly the hands-on practice and learning of holding space on the dance floor and how to guide and support people through personal processes and transformation. It will offer a new perspective on all the many tools of Movement Medicine, as the focus shifts from experiencing them for oneself to utilizing them to guide others.

8–10 March: Ashes and Blossom with Rosie Perks. Dartington, UK.
This safe space invites us to dance and be intimate with our grief and heart-break, as a part of our lives. Grief brings a certain intelligence and can show us more about who we are and what really matters to us. The dancing, moving body creates its own safe container as it best knows how to move with and transform intense emotion in a healthy way. This allows us to do deep process-work and find the blossoms in our grief.

This workshop offers a safe and very well guided space to explore various facets and qualities that leadership and co-creation requires, such as congruence, presence, clarity, self-trust, and the ability to support, encourage, motivate and listen, as well as direct and hold appropriate boundaries. Personal authority together with the skill to co-create makes for creative, powerful team work and play. You will skilfully be guided to meeting that ‘Jaguar’ inside you that protects fiercely what it loves, and the ‘Butterfly’, that part which is vulnerable, magically beautiful, only coming out when it really is safe to be seen. The workshop will explore the blend of these two parts and challenge our paradigm of separation.
