Well done to Commis Chef Nathan Harwood and Apprentice Chef Karl Azcarraga who both entered the recent NECTA (North East Culinary Trade Association) awards. Nathan won Silver in the Future Chef competition and Karl won Bronze for his Lamb dish.

Journalist visits recently have been from The Times newspaper and OK Magazine. Next month we have a European slant as it's the turn of Italy and Holland.

We're very aware of the environment in which the hotel is located, but just as aware of the improvements we can make within the hotel to do our bit to look after the planet. Recently we began a programme of changing our light bulbs and so far we estimate this will reduce the amount of electricity we use by 50,000 kWh a year.
