Northumbria Healthcare GP Update

Dear colleague,

Welcome to your August bulletin. We hope you're enjoying your summer, whether you've had time abroad or have stayed local and spent time with friends and family.

Additional support on skin cancer triage pathway

We have launched a pilot with Map My Mole. They are providing some support to our skin cancer triage pathway by reviewing digital images of skin lesions. We have seen a significant increase in 2-week wait skin cancer referrals in recent months (up by over 150%).

As part of this process, they will send their reports directly to you. You do not need to do anything differently, but you may receive clinical reports from Map My Mole rather than the trust.

Psychosexual Therapy Service: updated referral criteria for Northumberland GPs

The Psychosexual Therapy Service, operated by Northumbria Healthcare's Sexual Health Service, has updated its referral criteria to help ensure patients are directed to the most appropriate support. GPs are encouraged to review the revised guidance before making a referral, as eligibility requirements and referral pathways may have changed.

Please ensure referrals meet the updated criteria to support timely assessment and access to care. You can view the full referral criteria here.
